Introduction & Intake
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process aimed at understanding and changing patterns that contribute to psychological difficulties or feeling stuck in daily life.
Depending on your needs, therapy may focus on processing difficult experiences, breaking long-standing patterns, developing new skills, strengthening self-understanding, and creating more space to live in a way that aligns with your values.
Psychotherapy is not simply about receiving advice. It is an active process in which we work together to understand what maintains your difficulties and explore how meaningful change can occur.
If you find yourself feeling stuck, struggling with recurring patterns, experiencing psychological difficulties, or having trouble coping with certain challenges, therapy may be helpful.
A free introductory call offers the opportunity to discuss your situation and explore whether my approach is a good fit for what you are looking for.
The introductory call is a free, no-obligation conversation in which we discuss your situation, explore your reasons for seeking therapy, and consider whether my approach matches your needs.
There is also plenty of opportunity to ask questions about treatment, practical matters, or the therapeutic process.
Before the intake session, you will receive a pre-intake questionnaire covering your current difficulties, background, previous treatment experiences, and goals for therapy.
This allows me to prepare carefully for the intake and helps us move more efficiently towards an appropriate treatment plan.
No. Many people seek support because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or notice themselves repeating the same patterns over and over again. A formal diagnosis is not required to begin therapy.
Treatment focuses primarily on your difficulties, goals, and personal circumstances. Where relevant, we can explore patterns, mechanisms, and possible explanations that may contribute to the development and maintenance of your difficulties.
Following the intake, I create a treatment plan outlining the main difficulties, treatment goals, and proposed therapeutic direction.
This treatment plan serves as the foundation for therapy and is tailored to your specific situation, needs, and preferences. We then discuss the proposed approach together and determine how the therapeutic process will move forward.
My practice is intended for people seeking outpatient psychological therapy who are sufficiently stable to participate in online treatment.
At this time, I do not provide treatment when there is:
- Acute suicidality or an immediate mental health crisis.
- Severe substance dependence requiring specialised addiction treatment first.
- Active psychosis or a manic episode.
- Severe eating disorders requiring specialised treatment.
- A need for intensive multidisciplinary or inpatient care.
- A primary need for psychiatric assessment or medication management.
If you are unsure whether your situation is a good fit, we can discuss this during the free introductory call. If my practice is not the most appropriate option, I will gladly help you think about a more suitable referral.
Therapy & EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach originally developed to help process traumatic experiences and distressing memories.
We now know that EMDR can be applied much more broadly. In addition to trauma, it can be effective for anxiety-related difficulties, catastrophic future scenarios, and emotionally charged mental images that keep people trapped in fear, avoidance, or persistent vigilance.
During EMDR, the brain's natural processing system is activated, allowing memories and mental images to become less emotionally distressing and lose much of their emotional intensity over time.
Would you like to better understand how EMDR works? This short animation clearly explains how traumatic memories can become "stuck" and how EMDR may help process them:

This video is intended as a general introduction. During an intake or therapy session, we can discuss whether EMDR is appropriate for your specific situation.
I work with a range of psychological difficulties, including trauma and PTSD, anxiety, panic, low mood, grief, self-esteem difficulties, emotional regulation difficulties, burnout, attachment-related difficulties, and long-standing patterns rooted in earlier life experiences.
If you are unsure whether your concerns fall within my area of expertise, we can discuss this during a free introductory call.
Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face treatment for many psychological difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress-related problems
Several meta-analyses have also demonstrated that the quality of the therapeutic relationship in online therapy is generally comparable to that of traditional face-to-face treatment.
These findings are supported by a growing body of scientific research on online psychological treatment..
Practical Information
Individual therapy sessions are 60 minutes long and cost €110 per session.
This fee also includes session preparation, reflection and e-health documents, written feedback, and other treatment-related support.
A free 30-minute introductory call is available before starting therapy.
I do not have contracts with Dutch health insurance providers. As a result, therapy is generally not reimbursed through the Dutch basic healthcare system.
Depending on your policy, some international health insurers may offer partial or full reimbursement. If needed, I can provide invoices and supporting documentation to assist with reimbursement claims.
For specific information regarding coverage, I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly.
Individual therapy sessions last 60 minutes. This generally provides sufficient time to work in depth while remaining focused and goal-oriented.
Before starting therapy, a free 30-minute introductory call is available to explore whether my approach is the right fit for you.
Most sessions take place online via a secure video platform. This allows me to work with clients both within the Netherlands and internationally.
In-person sessions may occasionally be available by arrangement, depending on the situation and availability.
Yes. I regularly work with both Dutch and international clients. A significant part of my practice consists of expats, international professionals, and people living abroad.
Yes. Therapy is available in both English and Dutch. Together, we can choose the language in which you feel most comfortable expressing yourself.
Therapy Process
The number of sessions varies from person to person and depends on the nature and complexity of the difficulties involved.
My preference is always goal-oriented treatment: as short as possible, and as long as necessary.
Throughout the process, we regularly evaluate progress and decide together what is most appropriate moving forward.
No. Therapy is not about forcing yourself to discuss difficult experiences before you are ready. We work step by step and at a pace that feels manageable for you.
In trauma-focused treatment, it is often important to first establish sufficient safety, trust, and stability before exploring or processing more difficult experiences.

Emotions are a normal and often valuable part of therapy.
Many people have carried difficult feelings alone for a long time. Therapy provides a space where these experiences can be explored without needing to suppress, avoid, or immediately solve them.
When emotions arise, we work with them together in a way that remains safe, manageable, and constructive.
This depends on the individual, the nature of the difficulties, and the goals of therapy.
Some clients notice meaningful changes within a few sessions, while others benefit from a longer and deeper therapeutic process.
Trauma-focused approaches such as EMDR, Exposure Therapy, and Imagery Rescripting can often lead to noticeable symptom reduction relatively quickly.
Throughout therapy, progress is reviewed regularly, and treatment is adjusted according to your needs.
